Buffy in for feature relaunch without Whedon?

A relaunch of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” could be coming to the big screen however without creator Joss Whedon.
The new “Buffy” film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike. Vertigo and Kuzui are looking to restart the story line without trampling on the beloved existing universe created by Whedon, putting the parties in a similar situation faced by Paramount, J.J. Abrams and his crew when relaunching “Star Trek.”
One of the underlying ideas of “Buffy” allows Vertigo and Kuzui to do just that: that each generation has its own vampire slayer to protect it. The goal would be to make a darker, event-sized movie that would, of course, have franchise potential.
Interested in what the fans think I took a stroll over to whedonesque.com. I think this one sums it up.

Ben Stiller’s Night at the Museum sequel charged past the franchise relaunch of Terminator in a battle for North American box office supremacy.
Here is what they have for the weekend of May 22nd to May 25th.
- Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian $70.0/$70.0
- Terminator Salvation $53.8/$67.1
- Star Trek $29.4/$191.0
- Angels & Demons $27.7/$87.8
- Dance Flick $13.1/$13.1
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine $10.1/$165.3
- Ghosts of Girlfriends Past $4.8/$46.9
- Obsessed $2.5/$66.4
- Monsters vs. Aliens $1.9/$193.5
- 17 Again $1.2/$60.5
- The Soloist $1.0/$29.4
- Next Day Air $.7/$9.0
I’m not surprised that Night at the Museum did better. The first one was super popular with kids, and I enjoyed it myself. You’re going to get a lot more families going to that than to Terminator.
“Star Trek” could have cut into “T4′s” action. “Star Trek” placed No. 3 for the weekend, declining only 49% to an estimated $29.4 million for a cume of $191 million in its third sesh.

Don’t read past this line if you don’t like spoilers.
Rich Johnston over at Lying in the Gutters is reporting that Wizard may have yet again let info they shouldn’t about Captain America out.
I’m told that the upcoming August edition of Diamond Comics’ “Previews” solicits an upcoming issue of “Wizard” that makes it clear that the teased “Reborn” book from Marvel by Brubaker and Hitch is, indeed, The Return Of Captain America.
I’m pretty sure we all knew it was going to happen, but it’s just fun to pile up on Wizard.
