Sheldon Turner to adapt video game inFAMOUS for the big screen

Sony Pictures has signed a seven-figure deal to bring inFamous to the big screen. And screenwriter Sheldon Turner (Longest Yard, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, X-Men Oranges: Magneto) is going to be writing the script.

Launched in May, “inFAMOUS” centers on bike messenger Cole MacGrath, who survives an explosion that destroys entire blocks of Empire City only to find he has new electricity-derived super powers that come out of his hands like Star Wars. The action game, designed for Sony’s PlayStation 3 console, allows the player to use his powers for good or evil, as MacGrath’s karma affects how the devastated city’s people and infrastructure deal with him.

“What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I’ve come across that had a big idea and a character arc,” Turner said. “It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is.”

Miley Cyrus could be Batgirl in Dark Knight Sequel?

First NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I can’t make this stuff up.

From hollyscoop.com

Apparently Miley is being considered for the role of Batgirl, starring opposite Christian Bale! Talk about a step up from Hannah Montana! The Globe’s Loosch Lips column broke the news, saying Miley recently “stunned” producers at Warner Brothers in a full batsuit trying to pitch herself.

The insider says, “She was sort of hopping around the room and had even written some dialogue for herself. The problem is, some people aren’t really convinced Miley has the acting chops to pull it of.”

and

io9.com

all it the news that Comic-Con thankfully drowned out, but we’re stunned to discover the rumor that Hannah Montana herself, Miley Cyrus, could play Batgirl in Chris Nolan’s follow-up to The Dark Knight. It can’t be true… right?

On the face of it, it’s so ridiculous that there’s no chance that it could be true, especially when you trace it back to a story that claims that Cyrus dressed in a Batgirl costume to impress Warner Bros. execs recently. Wasn’t that exactly what Sean Young did with Catwoman for Batman Returns, after all?

But there’s something so ridiculous about it that we can’t help but feel a little scared. After all, even if Warners isn’t secretly hoping that Nolan will make the next Batman movie a little more family-friendly, who’s to say that Nolan – a man who has cast both Katie Holmes and Scarlett Johansson in his movies, remember – wouldn’t think that there’s some bizarro artistic value in taking kid star Cyrus and casting her against type in a dark epic about the nature of darkness in heroic evolution as personified by a man dressed as a giant bat…?

Or, to put it another way: Alicia Silverstone didn’t end up in Batman and Robin by herself.

Marvel Announces The Avengers Line-Up

Got this from I09

Kevin Feige talked about the interlaced comic book plots that are tied to Iron Man 2, spurred by the Nick Fury cameo by Samuel L. Jackson, and Tony Starks cameo in the Hulk movie.

Do you know what heroes are we going to be putting in The Avengers? How close are you to discovering who the core characters are?

I think we know. I think it’s going to be Iron Man and Thor, Captain America and Nick Fury. I think it’s safe to assume that there will be some members of the Hulk universe in the film as well. In terms of the additional I think Black Widow, sure. The SHIELD organization for sure. What’s exciting, for me, about The Avengers movie is seeing those four characters interact with each other. I think anywhere from the first issues of The Avengers to Civil War the dynamic between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark is just awesome, it’s fascinating. It brings out sides in others that won’t be brought out in the other franchises. Going forward with the mix is a whole other thing, I think it will be cool. So to pile on another 15 or 10, frankly more than four would be too many.

Is the Hulk in it?

Zak Penn is outlining it as we speak, so we’ll see.

Are you going to test potential Captain America people against Robert knowing they’ll have work together at some point?

We’ve already been doing a little bit of that, to an extent. We’re certainly casting all of the actors knowing that they need to carry, whether they are the good guy or the bad guy or a small part, not only their own franchise but playing an important part in the Avengers franchise. We are definitely keeping that in mind as we are casting.

Has Chris Hemsworth [Thor] said that he would met with Robert?

Oh yes, that was the first meeting of Thor and Tony Stark, it was pretty cool.

My first thought was ‘Where’s Hawkeye, Ant-Man and Wasp?’ but that’s just me.

Weekend Boxoffice Chart for July 24th to July 26th

Disney’s flick about guinea pigs who come to life and kill everybody (ok so it’s a family pic and that never happens) “G-Force” was the winner at the domestic B.O., opening over the weekend to an estimated $32.3 million from 3,697 playdates and besting Warner Bros. holdover “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”

Half-Blood Prince” remained the worldwide leader, earning a magical $84.4 million internationally for a total haul of $627.1 million. That’s the top pace for the “Potter” franchise. Domestic gross was an estimated $30 million from 4,325 runs.

Seems like no matter how much I want live action talking animal movies to die they never will. It’s most upsetting.
