New Justice League Trailer & New Family Guy’s Empire Spoof Trailers

Family Guy’s The Empire Strikes Back trailer is out and loaded up with the usual gags and great jokes.

The official title is Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Dark Side and it’s out on DVD December 22. I’m already thinking this may be better than Blue Harvest.

Before Fringe introduced millions to the idea of Parallel Earths, DC’s superheroes were hopping to Earth-2 and beyond on an annual basis. Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths returns us to those heady days.

New Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Multiplayer Trailer

Joystiq has a nice little story plus video up about the New Battlefield game coming out soon. If you can tear yourselfs away from Modern Warfare 2 for 30 seconds you should check it out.

Ahhh yes, flying helicopters from base to base, frantically scrambling to a good vehicle or cover, and the always prudent flag rush — staples of any good Battlefield: Bad Company online multiplayer match. Maybe you were more into sneaking into a building’s attic, blowing a hole in one corner, and carefully sniping the other team from afar? You are our bane!

Ahem, that said, the latest multiplayer trailer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 above, serves to remind us of all the good times we had the first time around. It also, unfortunately, serves to remind us that the second game still isn’t out for another three months. Luckily, some of you will get to enjoy the multiplayer beta starting today. Do us all a favor, folks — shell the snipers!

Harry Potter’s Wizarding World Theme Park

Maybe you’ve seen the concept art and ideas brewing in the giant Harry Potter theme park. Now see those concepts brought to life in this sneaky behind-the-scenes video. Plus Draco Malfoy stops by and talks Butter Beer.

The whole park is supposed to be up and running in the Spring of 2010 in Universal Orlando Resort.

Confirmed: R2-D2 Finally Discovered In Star Trek

sciencefictionstuff was the first to break it:

As you can see, R2D2 is floating through the debris field in a shot where the Director figured out attention would of course be on the giant Romulan ship, the Nerada. While completely ignoring this little robot floating gently to the left of the screen.

But here he is! Undeniable proof that R2D2 somehow was transported through space and time in order to witness the destruction of Vulcan.

I guess the chances are that he was then sucked into the black hole and sent far far away with all the debris from Vulcan…

*Update, some people online are saying that this image is Photoshoped but I want to help prove that it is not. The best way to do this I have found is to play your copy of ‘Star trek’ with Media Player Classic and use the amazing frame advance feature to get the still… thats how I done it.

I am truly amazed that I seem to be one of the few people who spotted this, yay for me! lolz.

Then Gizmodo backed it up:

In this frame you can clearly see R2-D2’s cameo in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek. This time there’s absolutely no doubt about it: It’s been confirmed by ILM.

Can you see him floating there, on the left, right below the huge arrow that I also missed when I saw the movie? That’s obviously him, a fact that has been confirmed to me by one of the movie’s sequence supervisors at Industrial Light & Magic—the same guy who said this previous sighting was just the shuttle.

Is Joss Whedon Returning To Buffy?

Could one of Joss Whedon’s post-Dollhouse projects be a web series based on his Buffy Season Eight comics from Dark Horse? Sci Fi Wire seems to think so, and they’re saying that casting is already underway.

According to the site, the series will be a motion comic adaptation of the current “official” sequel to the television series, and the casting sides they have make it look like an adaptation of the Faith-centric second arc, “No Future For You” (written by Brian K. Vaughan), with actors needed for parts including Faith, Lady Genevieve and the dream-sequenced Daniel Craig. The sides name “Maxx Initiative” as the people behind the motion comics, but aside from the mention of Jeff Shuter as casting director, no other creative personnel are named as being involved. Recording dates, according to the casting sides, are still to be decided, so don’t hold your breath waiting for the end result, either.

From Sci Fi Wire:

Now that Dollhouse is winding up, Cabin in the Woods is delayed until 2011 and there’s no new Dr. Horrible on the immediate horizon, this is the best news yet for a Whedonite. Yay!

Modern Warfare 2 Sells Nearly Five Million Copies In A Day

Activision Blizzard Inc said it sold 4.7 million copies of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2“, or $310 million of sales, on its first day, setting a new record for the video game industry making it the largest entertainment launch in history.

The FPS went on sale on Tuesday in the most highly anticipated debut of the year. Fans had lined up for hours outside retail stores like GameStop in advance of the midnight release.

Analysts projected unit sales of 11 million to 13 million by the end of 2009, saying “Call of Duty” would defy the weak economy because it appeals to hard-core gamers willing to shell out $60 for the title. Estimates for launch-day sales ranged from $300 million to $340 million.

Rockstar Games’ “Grand Theft Auto IV” had broken previous industry records when it bowed in 2008, selling 3.7 million units on its first day, and generating more than $500 million in revenue by the end of its first week, from 6 million units sold worldwide.

Do I really need to mention that we have Call of Duty T-Shirts in stock?

Fox Has Pulled The Plug On The Always Controversial Dollhouse

Joss Whedon posted this comment over at Whedonesque Today:

Hmm. Apparently my news is not news.

I don’t have a lot to say. I’m extremely proud of the people I’ve worked with: my star, my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you’ll agree in the coming months. I’m grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again.

I’m off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I’ve read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you’ll know what my next project is. But for now there’s a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear.

Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts. See you again. -j.

I did see on a few message boards the updated schedule for the show

Dec. 4 – 8:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episodes 5 & 6)
Dec. 11 – 8:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episodes 7 & 8)
Dec. 18 – 8:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episodes 9 & 10)

Jan. 8 – 9:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episode 11)
Jan. 15 – 9:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episode 12)
Jan. 22 – 9:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episode 13 / Series Finale)

I guess it’s still good the show will finish the 13 episodes already planned.

LEGO Life-Sized NES is Pure Win (Almost)

nes

Almost pure win because he hasn’t actually won anything yet, seems the competition is in round 6.

Dave Sterlings NES creation has two LEGO controllers, a LEGO Tetris game cartridge and a LEGO TV.

“So why did I decide to build an NES?,” writes Dave Sterling. “I think mainly just to see if I could. I’ve never done something I would consider ‘art’ or ‘sculpture’ in LEGO and I really wanted to give it a try and see if I could recreate something directly to scale.”

Rock Band Next Week: The White Stripes, The Damned and Kasabian

In order to properly play “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground,” “Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine,” and “Icky Thump,” the three White Stripes tunes making their way to the Rock Band Music Store next week, you will need a divorced spouse you are still on amazingly good terms with. If you are drumming, it’ll be best if you’ve never had a lesson, and if you are playing the guitar you’d best own a mic stand. Otherwise the experience will be totally ruined.

If you can’t handle those restrictions, you’re probably better off playing The Damned’s “Smash it Up (Part II)” or Kasabian’s “Club Foot,” the two other songs coming to the console versions of Rock Band next week, or No Doubt’s “Excuse Me Mr.” and the Dropkick Murphys‘ “I’m Shipping Up To Boston,” this week’s Rock Band Unplugged additions.

Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (Nov. 10) and PlayStation 3 system (Nov. 12):

• The Damned – “Smash It Up (Part II)” +
• Kasabian – “Club Foot” +
• The White Stripes – “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” +
• The White Stripes – “Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine” +
• The White Stripes – “Icky Thump”

Tracks available for Rock Band Unplugged (Nov. 12):

• No Doubt – “Excuse Me Mr.”
• Dropkick Murphys – “I’m Shipping Up to Boston”
