Sherlock Holmes 2 Casting News

Man I could really go for some Sherlock Holmes 2 right now, guess casting news will have to do.

First, Mad Men star and son of the legendary actor Richard Harris, Jared Harris, has been chosen to become the villain and constant thorn in the side of detective Sherlock Holmes played by Robert Downey Jr…. if I had to say that lest bit stop reading and go watch the flick, it’s really pretty solid.

Second, actor Stephen Fry is set to play Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s older brother. Mycroft Holmes is suppose to be the more intelligent brother and works for super secret government agency, but I’m not sure what direction they are taking him.

Sherlock Holmes 2 will be out (should be out, who knows) December 16, 2011

Star Wars in 3DDDDDDDDDDD

For the extra Ds I want you to picture me running past you as I yell Star Wars in 3D.

So we all knew it was coming, lets face it, George Lucas loves money, and I mean more then most. Did you really think he would pass up the opportunity to re re release Star Wars again (maybe if you own the VHS, Blu-Ray and DVDs you get 5% off or something).

Now I think this is still a rumor, I’ve noticed most places that reported on this said something like “Sources indicate” that George Lucas is set on re-releasing the “Star Wars” franchise in new 3D conversions beginning in 2012. F

Although 3D versions have been rumored for some time, Lucas purportedly was waiting until there were enough screens available to make the release a sizable event, meaning the current crop of 2,000-2,500 3D locations is not enough for the man and with theaters adding 3D screens at a clip of 500 a month in the U.S. the longer he waits the bigger bang he will get.

Now for the funny part…

The plan is to start at the beginning, sending Episode I: The Phantom Menace out of the gate first in early 2012, and then releasing the films in order each year after that…all depending upon performance.

Ok, I get starting with #1, but I’m a Star Wars fan and that movie was bad.

Anyway, guess what, I will end up going to see this so I shouldn’t really bag on it too much.

I love this Star Wars Abbey Crossing T Shirt, I’m going to get Stylin to make it in 3D.

Zombies Have Rules?

Seems like everybody has to follow rules, even Zombies!

On the official Twitter page for The Walking Dead television show is the official zombie rules that will govern the behavior of the undead.

They only have seven rules right now, either Zombies can’t really follow alot of rules or more will be added soon. Anyway here we go

#1 Ability to run is based on the amount of time a zombie has been undead, and how much decay has set in.

#2 Zombies decay but at a much slower rate than humans, and it’s still possible to differentiate between young and old zombies.

#3 Zombies are like lions: if they’ve eaten, you can walk by them without fear, but a pack of hungry zombies will attack you.

#4 The quickest speed of any zombie is a shambling run. see Night of the Living Dead. NO sprinters exist.

#5 Zombies are not dexterous. They cannot pick up or use any items more complex than a rock or a stick.

#6 Zombies have poor eyesight but they do have a strong sense of smell.

#7 Zombies cannot speak but can communicate by pack mentality. The herd tends to move together if they sight food.

The Walking Dead will be on AMC for it’s 90-minute premiere Sunday, October 31 at 10pm EST.

Ridley Scott’s Alien Prequel May Show Aliens As Engineered Weapons?

To be fair, Ridley Scott actually said:

The film will be really tough, really nasty. It’s the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?

The second part “biology that would go in and clean up a planet” sounded dull, Engineered Weapons however sounds spacerific.

The question faithful fans will have, “would Ridley Scott really create a movie with the explanation that these iconic aliens, a staple of all-time horror movie monster, were genetically engineered as weapons (or a clean up crew, your pick)? ”

Die hard fans may be very worried that something could go off the tracks, but this is Ridley Scott, and as a director he knows a thing or two about making movies. I’m going to give him a little bit of space on this one and just go with it.

Most fans will also recognize the Space Jockey reference as the possible engineer of this whole deal.

If you don’t know who the Space Jockey is I’ll save you the search

The Alien production team nicknamed the creature aboard the derelict ship “The Space Jockey”. H. R. Giger, who designed the derelict and the Space Jockey, as well as the titular Alien, originally named the Space Jockey “The Pilot”. Aliens director James Cameron also jokingly referred to the creature as the “Big Dental Patient”.

In an application of the special effects technique of forced perspective, Scott dressed his own children in scaled-down Nostromo spacesuits and filmed them walking around the Space Jockey’s dais to make the whole set appear twice as large as it actually was.

If we get more, I’ll post.

Weekend Box office Chart for September 3rd to September 5th.

Hard call if this was a good or bad weekend for movies, I can say for a holiday weekend the numbers didn’t come out super great.
