80′s Icon and Former Teen Star Corey Haim Dies At 38

This morning, former teen star Corey Haim died in Los Angeles of an accidental overdose.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the actor’s death to TV station KTLA. He was found unresponsive in his apartment at around 3:30 am and was later pronounced dead at Providence St. Josephs’ss Medical Center in Burbank. The cause of death has been reported as an accidental drug overdose. Whether the drugs involved were illegal substances or prescription medication Haim was taking is still under investigation.
Perhaps best known along with frequent co-star Corey Feldman as one of the two Coreys, Corey Haim’s career started off in a promising fashion in the early 80′s, in License to Drive and The Lost Boys, movies that quickly led to his teen idol status. While the 80s brought great success for Haim, the following decade did not follow suit. Haim’s roles consisted mostly of direct-to-video flops and the actor struggled to get back his once successful career while dealing with bankruptcy, drug dependency, and stints in rehab.
Haim developed a drug habit that plagued him through the 2000′s, stifling attempts at a comeback despite the success of his 2006 reality show The Two Coreys, and renewed interest in The Lost Boys as a franchise.
