Getting as excited as we are for the new Thor movie?
Actress, Natalie Portman, discusses her role as Jane Foster in “Thor,” in theaters May 6!
Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios have just released the second trailer for Thor. Unlike the other trailers that had been just rebuilt and rehashed footage from Comic Con last year (the Super Bowl commercial is included in this crop), this one is more centered around (Oscar nominee!) Natalie Portman and shows off the funnier side of the movie.
Thankfully the trailer also includes a bit more footage of Destroyer (a favorite around the Stylin Office) and mortal enemies of everybody from Asgard, the Frost Giants. We also get to see more of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and Darcy(Kat Dennings), the latter of which seems to provide many of the film’s lighter moments.
“Thor” hits theaters May 6, 2011.
Thor Fans, don’t miss out on all the great deals we have on Thor shirts going on right now! Like my personal favorite Junk Food tee “The Thunder”
Based on the super awesome and fan favorite God of Thunder of the same name… he’s just your average immortal, slightly arrogant and cast out of Asgard by his father Odin in order to instill some humility in him.
Directing the film is Kenneth Branagh (Hamlet, Sleuth), and it stars Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek, A Perfect Getaway), Natalie Portman (Black Swan, Garden State), Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs, Legends of the Fall), and Tom Hiddleston (Unrelated, War Horse).
Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior, is sent down to Earth has punishment for reigniting a reckless war. But after a dangerous villain from his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth, the hammer-wielding Thor will learn what it takes to be a true hero in order to save mankind
Kinda goes along with what we thought Chris Hemsworth playing the Mighty Thor would look like, however it would be cool for Mjolnir to be a hair bigger.
Anthony Hopkins has been cast in “Thor,” in the Marvel Studios production that is set to start shooting sometime in January and has a release date of May 20, 2011. Hopkins will play Odin, the king of Asgard and the father of Thor and step father of Loki (if they stick with the comic, in the movie they may be real brothers). Chris Hemsworth is playing Thor, and Tom Hiddelston plays his nemesis, Loki.
Natalie Portman is also set to play Thor’s love interest, Jane Foster.
The pic was scripted by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz & Ashley Miller. The Mighty Thor is a powerful but arrogant warrior of Asgard, but after his reckless actions reignite an ancient war, his father banishes him to Earth to live among humans. He learns the meaning of heroism when he stands tall as his arch enemy from home sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
According to Hollywood Reporter two more actors have been added to director Kenneth Branagh’s big screen Thor adaptation for Marvel Studios. Jaimie Alexander and Colm Feore join Chris Hemsworth, already cast as Thor; Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, the god of mischief who serves as the movie’s villain; and Natalie Portman is Thor’s human love, Jane Foster.
Jaimie Alexander is reportedly playing Sif, a skilled Asgardian warrior who can hold her own against any man and Thors ummm… other love interest. Alexander is best known as the character “Jessi XX” on 33 episodes of the TV series Kyle XY.
Feore’s character is apparently shrouded in mystery, the studio isn’t even sending the actors the script, oh the drama.
The movie’s story centers on Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions re-ignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Got this from I09
Kevin Feige talked about the interlaced comic book plots that are tied to Iron Man 2, spurred by the Nick Fury cameo by Samuel L. Jackson, and Tony Starks cameo in the Hulk movie.
Do you know what heroes are we going to be putting in The Avengers? How close are you to discovering who the core characters are?
I think we know. I think it’s going to be Iron Man and Thor, Captain America and Nick Fury. I think it’s safe to assume that there will be some members of the Hulk universe in the film as well. In terms of the additional I think Black Widow, sure. The SHIELD organization for sure. What’s exciting, for me, about The Avengers movie is seeing those four characters interact with each other. I think anywhere from the first issues of The Avengers to Civil War the dynamic between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark is just awesome, it’s fascinating. It brings out sides in others that won’t be brought out in the other franchises. Going forward with the mix is a whole other thing, I think it will be cool. So to pile on another 15 or 10, frankly more than four would be too many.
Is the Hulk in it?
Zak Penn is outlining it as we speak, so we’ll see.
Are you going to test potential Captain America people against Robert knowing they’ll have work together at some point?
We’ve already been doing a little bit of that, to an extent. We’re certainly casting all of the actors knowing that they need to carry, whether they are the good guy or the bad guy or a small part, not only their own franchise but playing an important part in the Avengers franchise. We are definitely keeping that in mind as we are casting.
Has Chris Hemsworth [Thor] said that he would met with Robert?
Oh yes, that was the first meeting of Thor and Tony Stark, it was pretty cool.
My first thought was ‘Where’s Hawkeye, Ant-Man and Wasp?’ but that’s just me.
