Weekend Box Office Total for September 23th to September 25th

Walt Disney’s The Lion King (In 3D) was # 1 for the second weekend in a row with another cool $22.1 million bringing it’s total up to $61.6m. Following close behind in it’s opening weekend was Brad Pitt’s baseball drama Moneyball, that opened at No. 2 with a very respectable $20.6 million.

I was sure Moneyball with it’s 94% Rotten Tomatoes rating would have easly taken the first spot this weekend. Guess it was a bit of a niche movie, but we’ll see how word of mouth helps it next week.
